BSV is guided by the experience and direction provided by the Board of Directors, comprising of the following eminent personalities:

The Board of Directors formulates the overall business plan and strategy of the Company and monitors the implementation. The core management team consisting of senior production, marketing, finance and research professionals is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Company and implementation of the Company's plans.

Brief profiles of the Board of Directors:

Dr. Vinod G. Daftary: Dr. Vinod Daftary founded BSV in 1971, primarily for the manufacture and marketing of diagnostic and therapeutic products based on plasma fractions. Given his medical and scientific background, Dr. Daftary realized the need for domestic manufacturing of plasma products. Dr. Vinod Daftary holds a post graduate and doctoral degree in pathology and microbiology from the Walter Reed Hospital, Washington DC.

Dr. Daftary has won several academic and business awards including the Junior Clinical Shirvalkar Gold Medal for Medicine at G.S. Medical College in 1945, the DAHANUKAR ENTREPRENEUR AWARD of Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce for making Anti-D Immuneglobulin for the first time in India, the Certificate Award for Import Substitution for making strips for detection of albumin and glucose in urine and the Import Substitution Award for making Anti-D serum for the first time in India by the then Invention Promotion Grant of the Government of India.

His distinguished and pioneering efforts in the field of plasma products have also led to his having several prestigious scientific memberships like Fellow of the College of American Pathologists, Fellow of the International College of Surgeons, Member of the International Academy of Pathologists, Fellow of the Indian Association of Pathologists & Microbiologists and Fellow of the Indian College of Pathologists.

Mr. Bharat Daftary: Mr. Bharat Daftary is the Managing Director of the Company and is mainly responsible for business strategy, international alliances, sales and marketing. He has been instrumental in striking several fruitful international alliances for BSV and has over the years developed excellent relationships internationally in the biological and biotech industry.

Dr. Gautam Daftary: A qualified medical doctor, Dr. Gautam Daftary is the Managing Director of BSV and spearheads the R&D activities. He also overseas the manufacturing function of the Company. He is also credited with starting the first Indian Clinical Research Company, Siro Clinpharm Private Limited. Dr. Gautam Daftary's knowledge and expertise in the fields of microbiology, oncology, allergies, psychiatrics and infectious diseases has led him to being instrumental in providing the necessary thrust in R&D at BSV.

Mr. Nitin Deshmukh: holds MBA degree from University of Bombay.  Earlier he earned h is Masters Degree in Pharmaceutical Technology from UDCT, Bombay where his research work led to a patent filing on machine design for manufacture of Novel Drug Delivery Systems. He also has completed the Post Graduation Programme in Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Ghent, Belgium.

Mr. Deshmukh has strong association with Pharmaceutical and Biotech Industry in the country, having served as The Director General of Association of Biotechnology Led Enterprises (ABLE), the leading industry association of biotech companies in India and having worked with CIPLA, India’s second largest pharmaceutical company in various technical and management positions. He is the founding member of the Private Equity practice at Kotak and has played the pivotal role in building the Alternate Assets business to USD $ 1.4 billion Funds currently under management at Kotak Investment Advisors Ltd. With over 19 years of experience in Venture Capital (VC) & Private Equity (PE) investing.

Mr. Ajeet Singh Karan: Mr. Ajeet Singh Karan is MBA from IIM Ahmedabad and has 25 years industry experience in various reputed organizations.

Ms. Cynthia D'Souza: Ms. Cynthia D'Souza has done graduation in Pychology, Post Graduation in Human Research and has experience around 32 years in general management, strategic planning, sales and marketing and now practicing as the independent consultant.

Mr. Sunil Shah: is an IIM Ahmedabad graduate and has completed his B.Com from Mumbai University. He has more than 30 years of work experience in the areas of financial management and strategic planning. He has served the Board of HDFC Securities Ltd. as a Managing Director for almost five years. Currently, he is managing his own advisory business namely Evergreen Capital Advisors.   

Mr. Rohan Shah: is a qualified solicitor and a member of Law Society of UK. He was associated with the legal filed since last 19 years and is currently acting as a Managing Partner of Economic Laws Practice. Mr. Rohan Shah has a sound knowledge in the area of taxation, corporate & commercial laws, real estate laws, media & international laws.   

Mr. Suketu V Shah: is presently a Joint Managing Director of Mukand Ltd., Mr. Shah did his undergrad from Mumbai and his MBA from Harvard Business School in 1980. He has worked with Bajaj Auto, Pune and with International Finance Corporation, Washington D.C. and American Express Bank in New York before returning to India to join Mukand Ltd. Mr Shah is a past Chairman of the Young Presidents Organization , Bombay Chapter and was on the executive committee of the Harvard Business School Association of India. He has been the Chairman of Western Regional Council of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) the apex industry association in India and is now on the National Council of CII. He is Chairman of the Alloy Steel Producers Association of India. Mr. Shah is also on the Board of UTV Software Communications Ltd., in which the Walt Disney company has a significant stake. His other business interests include pharma and dairy. Mr. Shah’s hobbies and interests include art & music, mountain climbing, travel, food, politics, writing, badminton. He hails from a family that has been deeply involved in politics and he too has an abiding interest in it.

Dr. Sunny Sharma: Dr. Sunny Sharma is a Senior Managing Director on the Asia team of OrbiMed Advisors. Dr. Sharma has more than 10 years of life sciences experience spanning venture capital, investment banking, and clinical practice.

Dr. Sharma was previously with Investor Growth Capital (IGC), the wholly owned global venture capital arm of Investor AB, and before that he was at Easton Capital, a venture capital fund in New York. While at IGC and Easton Capital, Dr. Sharma led or played a senior role on over a dozen life sciences investments. Earlier in his career, Dr. Sharma was with Lehman Brothers' healthcare investment banking group in London, and before that he practiced medicine in northern India.
